Are We Sleeping on Nocturnus?

Hey everyone,

I noticed there was already a discussion about the key Nocturnus, but not much focused on the band itself—so I figured I’d start a proper thread about them.

Nocturnus is one of those bands that I feel often gets overlooked, especially by people who are just getting into death metal. What really stands out to me is their unique sound—they blend technical death metal with a kind of atmospheric and sci-fi vibe that you don’t hear that often.

Albums like The Key and Thresholds (if you’ve heard them) really showcase how ahead of their time they were. The use of keyboards in death metal back then was pretty bold, and I think it helped shape a more progressive direction for the genre.

In my opinion, Nocturnus deserves way more recognition in the metal community.
