Why Is Nocturnus So Often Overlooked?

I've noticed there's already some discussion about The Key, but not much specifically about Nocturnus as a band, so I thought I'd start a thread about them.

In my opinion, Nocturnus is one of the most overlooked bands in death metal. Their music stands out because of its unique blend of technical musicianship, progressive elements, and atmospheric sci-fi themes, which helped set them apart from many of their contemporaries.

Despite their innovation and influence, they rarely seem to get mentioned alongside some of the bigger names in the genre. Albums like The Key and Thresholds showcased a level of creativity that was ahead of its time and helped pave the way for later technical and progressive death metal bands.

I think Nocturnus deserves much more recognition within the metal community. Have you listened to them? What are your thoughts on their music? Do you consider them an underrated band, or do you think they receive the attention they deserve?
